Bring your industrial operations into the 21st century with Reach Remote Operator Interface. No longer do industrial panels require individual touchscreen displays. With a Reach ROI module inside the panel and an iOS® tablet in your hands, the panel’s PLC is – literally – at your fingertips. Now, operators can remotely monitor and control PLC and RTUs from an iOS® tablet.
Reach is not a WiFi extension of your SCADA system. It is a new class of operator interface which provides enhanced capabilities at reduced cost. Reach is a direct replacement for local operator interfaces:
- Pilot Devices with gauges
- Keypad Displays
- Touchscreen displays
Bluetooth® Low Energy (BLE) technology permits point-to-point wireless connectivity between your industrial controller and an iOS® tablet. Reach provides a remote touchscreen experience through the Reach ROI module and an iOS® tablet. The patent-pending Reach ROI module resides in each industrial panel – connected to the communications port of an industrial controller. The ROI module retains a customized collection of screen definitions. The module exchanges data with the PLC and maintains a wireless link to any iOS® tablet. The Reach Nomad app wirelessly connects to the ROI module and displays interactive screens on iOS® tablet.
Screens are developed using a WYSIWYG Windows program, similar to modern HMI screen development software. If you've designed an HMI screen before, you should be able to start using the Reach Editor program without a problem.
Monitoring and control functions can be restricted based on operator passwords. The site-specific screen definitions and PLC interface parameters stay inside the industrial panel. The touchscreen display features roam with the operator. For outdoor panels, daylight visibility and operator productivity are enhanced when operators monitor and control an industrial panel from within a vehicle cab.
Using Bluetooth® Low Energy (BLE) technology, the Reach ROI module provides remote monitoring and control while maintaining a limited range - thwarting malicious actors who might attempt to interfere with operations from “outside the fence”.
